Licenses may be obtained in person or by mail. Enclose a self-addressed stamped enveloped; valid rabies certificate; spayed/neutered certificate if applicable and a check or money order made payable to “Buena Vista Township”. DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS.

Dog & Cat Licenses

DOG LICENSES
Dog licenses are required each year and can be purchased at the Township Clerk’s Office. When purchasing a dog license a valid rabies certificate is required. If your dog is spayed or neutered proof must be provided. After March 31st of each year an additional $7.00 late fee will be charged unless the Township notes otherwise.

RABIES AND LICENSING CLINICS
Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 4:19-15.2a, animal rabies vaccination immunization must extend thru, at least, the first ten months of the twelve month licensing period. Four rabies and licensing clinics for dogs and cats are held each March at various fire hall locations. See calendar for details. The Atlantic County Animal Shelter (609) 485-2345 also holds clinics. You may also call the Township Clerk’s Office for more details.

CAT REGISTRATION
Township law requires cats to be registered with the Township Clerk’s Office. The fee is $7.00 per cat spayed and neutered, or $9.00 if not there is a $7.00 late fee after 3/31. A Rabies Certificate is required.

PET WASTE

Pickup up after your pets!  Animal waste contains a high concentration of nutrients as well as bacteria and disease causing microorganisms that can cause health concerns.  Buena Vista Township has adopted Ordinance #2-2005 a State-Mandated law that requires pet owners to immediately and properly dispose of their pets solid waste from any public or private property other than their own.  Many public areas now have bag dispensers for pet waste collection.
