Mission Statement:
A TASK FORCE FOR A SUSTAINABLE BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP is a Mayor-appointed committee that is made up of Township Committee, Township employees, Township business representatives, Township residents and members of local non-profit organizations.
Our mission is to reduce the carbon footprint of Buena Vista Township through the promotion of energy efficiency and conservation, environmental education and the implementation of sustainable practices.
Goals:
- To meet the challenge set forth in the Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement of reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by seven percent below 1990 levels by 2012.
- To pursue initiatives that will encourage residents and businesses within the Township to take steps toward energy efficiency and conservation and to develop sustainable practices in their homes and places of businesses.
- To develop a Climate Action Plan for Buena Vista Township.
- To attain and maintain Sustainable Jersey certification.
