Vision
The Vision of the Buena Borough, Buena Vista Township and Weymouth Township Municipal Drug Alliance is to establish an active community dedicated to solving the abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs.
What we do in our communities through education, youth empowerment and mentoring is to address consequences of the substance abuse and the effect it has on both the user and their families.
How We Accomplish Our Vision
Our mission is accomplished through various programs, such as:
- Project Graduation – an alcohol and drug-free celebration held on the night of graduation for all graduating seniors.
- Natural Helpers – is a national based program. Those selected are a cross-section of students identified through anonymous school-wide survey. Ideally, those chosen are representatives of all subgroups in the school community.
- Community Awareness – is a service project designated to raise community awareness of health and/or safety related issues that are of local, state and/or national interest.
- Big Brothers Big Sisters – is the nation’s premiere donor volunteer supported youth-based mentoring organization.
- MLK Peer Leadership Group – is a group of high school-age teens that will develop and improve personal leadership and team building skills.
- Intergenerational Programs – are special vehicles that offer younger and older generations the opportunities to interact and become engaged in issues concerning our society.
- Weymouth Empowering – is a program educating our youth on the effects of drug, alcohol, and tobacco abuse.
